According to the World Intellectual Property Indicators (World Intellectual Property Indicators) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in 2017, the application for registration of intellectual property rights Intelligence around the world has set a new record. Number of worldwide trademark registrations reached 12.39 million, an increase of 26.8% compared to 2016. In which, China is still the leading growth country. Specifically, the number of trademark applications in China increased by 55.2% (accounting for 46.3% of the total number of applications worldwide).

Japan (up 24.2%) and the United States (up 12.6%) also saw strong growth in trademark application activity. However, both of these countries showed little growth in patent applications. Other noteworthy trends are from the economic and political changes in the Islamic Republic of Iran (up 87.9%), the United Kingdom (up 24.1) and Canada (up 19.5%).

017 marks the eighth consecutive year of growth in global trademark registrations and the highest growth recorded in recent decades.

After slowing down in 2007 and showing a slight decline in 2008 and 2009, the demand for trademark registrations recovered in 2010 and continues to increase every year. In 2010, the number of trademark applications filed in China accounted for 53% of the increase in world growth.

By 2017, China had more than 5.7 million trademark registrations, accounting for 78% of the annual increase in global trademark registrations. Followed by the United States with 613,921 applications. Next are Japan (560,269 applications), the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) (371,508 applications) and the Islamic Republic of Iran (358,353 applications). These top five countries accounted for 62% of global trademark registrations in 2017, up from 33% compared to 2007.

Asian countries (including Vietnam) accounted for 66.6% of all trademark applications in the world in 2017. This is a significant increase from 36.1% in 2007. .

According to statistics, the number of trademark registration applications of high-income countries decreased from 56.3% in 2007 to 31.6% in 2017. In contrast, the percentage of trademark registration applications by national groups has High average income has increased from 32.8% in 2007 to 60.5% in 2007.

Twelve of the top 20 countries are in high-income economies, six in high-middle-income countries (Brazil, China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mexico, the Russian Federation and Turkey). States) and two lower-income regions (India and Vietnam). This trend shows that the group of developing countries has become increasingly aware of the importance of trademark registration with global economic integration.
